My Baby’s First Thanksgiving: A New Meaning for Gratitude

This Thanksgiving feels different. It’s not just about the turkey, the sides, or even the family gathering—it’s about her. My daughter’s first Thanksgiving has added a layer of meaning to the holiday that I never expected. This year, gratitude looks like tiny hands grabbing mac and cheese, giggles around the dinner table, and the way her eyes light up at every new experience. It’s not about perfection—it’s about being present. I’ve found myself reflecting on what I want her to learn about this day. It’s more than food and festivities. It’s about family, love, and finding joy in the simplest moments. I hope that as she grows, Thanksgiving will remind her of the importance of togetherness and gratitude. And as we celebrate, I’m reminded to thank myself, too—for showing up, learning, and loving her with everything I have.
